Welcome to a new month! This month’s focus is going to be on teamwork, including remote work. With an increasing number of professionals looking to get up to speed quickly with remote work, I hope that you will find these posts useful, and will share them with others.

Before we get started, it’s time to do a quick stocktaking of the month that’s past and set some goals for the month head.

Looking to last month:
  1. What were your major accomplishments?
  2. What progress did you make towards your annual goals?
  3. What was your biggest learning?
  4. What surprized you?
  5. What skills and strengths did you leverage?
  6. What habits did you develop?
  7. What helped you be successful?
  8. What do you need to leave behind?
  9. What annual goals are you making progress on? Which ones are stalled or need a review?
Looking ahead to March and the end of Q1 of the year:
  1. What are your top 3 priorities?
  2. What do you want to make sure you focus on?
  3. What do you need to say no to?
  4. What relationships are important to foster?
  5. What habits are important to create or maintain?
  6. What’s going to be a stretch?
  7. What’s the one thing you might shy away from? What will help you achieve this?
  8. What will help you be accountable to your goals and plans?
  9. What’s your contingency plan?
  10. What needs to be “knocked out of the park” this month?

As we go to wrap up the month of October, we are that much closer to the end of the year. Today is an opportunity to focus in on the opportunity cost of things you are doing, and not doing. Today’s team prompt is the question: "What is the cost of not…"

You might consider things along the lines of:
  • What is the cost of not undertaking (insert task, activity or project)?
  • What is the cost of not delegating?
  • What is the cost of not prioritizing?
  • What is the cost of not minimizing digital distractions?
  • What is the cost of not focusing?
  • What is the cost of not celebrating? Acknowledging others’ efforts?

Welcome to June! What’s exciting about this month for you? What are your new goals?

As we step into a new month, I’m excited to be focusing on undertaking a mid-year review with you this month. We’ll be reconnecting with some of the core activities that help teams and organizations excel:
  • Team Tune Up
  • Systems Check
  • Feedback and Performance Check
  • Coaching and Mentoring
  • Streamlining Meetings
  • Presentations
  • Knowledge Management – Capturing Successes and Strategic Issues

It’s also an opportunity to take stock of the past month and look ahead to what you want to create in June. Before we go further, I hope that you will take a few minutes to explore these questions. Grab a pen and journal and let’s go. Given that we are stepping into the middle part of the year, what do you want to note about what you want to create by the end of the month? By the end of Q2?

Here are some questions to consider:
  1. As you reflect on May, what have been your successes and accomplishments?
  2. What are you most proud of?
  3. What successes this month do you want to duplicate? What has been some of your key learning?
  4. What key relationships have helped you so far this year? Which ones need more attention?
  5. What has helped your successes? What has hindered?
  6. What does your team need to be acknowledged for?

As you look to June, consider these questions:
  1. What are your key priorities for June?
  2. What are the key goals?
  3. What are the major priorities?
  4. What will you need to place attention on?
  5. What changes do you want to make in June?
  6. What resources do you want to tap into?
  7. By the end of the month, which will be the middle of the year, what do you want to make sure you have completed?

It is the end of another month, and also a quarter. What are the key things you want to make sure you take note of, celebrate and review?

Here are several questions you will want to explore as you consider month and quarter end:

Reflecting on March and/ or the entire quarter:
  • What have been your successes this month?
  • What didn’t work? Why?
  • What are the changes you would make in the future to that?
  • What has been your biggest learning?
  • What habits have supported you?
  • What things have gotten in the way?
  • Where have you been getting your results?
  • What metrics do you want to note?

Looking ahead to the next quarter or the next month:
  • What are the things you need to prioritize gong forward – next month? Next quarter?
  • What do you need to say "no" to?
  • What resources are going to help you be successful?
  • What relationships are critical for success?
  • What do you want to make sure you are communicating? To whom?
  • What do you want to make sure you schedule time in for?
  • Thinking about your metrics, what are the things that you want to track on a regular basis. What are the goals you hope to achieve or hit around these in the next period?

It’s hard to believe that another month has gone by. Here we are at the end of September and it’s time to do our monthly stock taking and reflection.
If you do track your monthly goals and metrics, today is the day to do this!
Take note of these questions:
  • As you reflect on September, what have been your successes and accomplishments?
  • As you reflect on the last quarter, what have been your successes and accomplishments?
  • What are you most proud of?
  • What successes this month do you want to duplicate?
  • What top 3 learning have you head that you want to carry forward?
  • What key relationships have helped you so far this year? Which ones need more attention?
  • What has helped your successes?
  • What has hindered or gotten in the way?
  • What does your team need to be acknowledged for?

    As you look to October, consider these questions:
  • What are your key priorities for October?
  • What are the key goals?
  • What are the major priorities?
  • What will you need to place attention on?
  • What changes do you want to make in October or this quarter?
  • What habits do you want to leverage?
  • When will you check in to explore your progress, and make changes?
  • What resources do you want to tap into?
  • Who can help you be successful this month?
This month also is the start to a new quarter. Grab a few more minutes to think about, and NOTE (yes – write it down).
  1. What are your top 5 priorities for this quarter?
  2. What will “wild success” look like at the end of the quarter in each of these priority areas?
  3. What, and who, do you need to complete these priority areas?
  4. What do you need to say NO to, in order to focus on the priorities?
  5. What else is important to note about this quarter?
