This week instead of a Weekly Journaling Prompt, I want to direct your attention to some of the Morning inquiry series I have been hosting over at my @Group Coach TikTok feed for the last month. Each day I provide a word, definition and reflection question.

Along the lines of the Weekly Journaling Prompts, these are geared to get you thinking and reflecting, mostly around work.

Here are a few links to get you started:
Day 2 – Belonging. Watch it on YouTube now - Coaching Shorts 61 : Morning inquiry 2 Belonging (youtube.com) .

teams365 #3731: Quarterly Reflection

3/29/2024

Picture
Let’s take a look back at the first quarter of the year. Taking stock of our achievements, learning, opportunities and challenges helps us to dial in more effective goals, and focus areas for the next quarter. In times of rapid change, these rapid iteration cycles and learning are even more important.

If you have a copy of PlanDoTrack or Coaching Business Builder, I hope that you will turn to the Quarterly Reflection Sections and complete the forms there, including making your “bucket list” of tasks for Q2. Also take time to note your accomplishments, projects, partnerships and other learning from Q1. What do you want your theme to be this quarter? I’ll be doing a charms pull or dice roll for quarterly goals.

Here are some questions you may also want to use to take stock of Quarter 1 and Plan for Q 2:
TEAMS 365 #3559: QUARTERLY REVIEW AND QUARTERLY PLANNING PROCESS

While Q 3 is not yet done, we are almost there! As a planner, I hold the belief that taking time to pause and review what we’ve done is an important part of business success. If we are not aware of our efforts – what’s working, what’s not – it’s hard to learning. Learning is essential for iteration, growth and change, especially in a world which is ever-changing.

Quarterly Planning is key part of the planning process, but is often overlooked, or underprioritized in lieu of weekly or monthly planning. When I went to write PlanDoTrack (LINK TO ONLINE PURCHASE - ) years ago, I felt that it was really important to have a quarterly planning set of pages, dedicated to looking at what’s working and what’s not on the quarterly layer.

If you have a copy of PlanDoTrack or Coaching Business Builder, pull it out now….and flip to the Quarterly Planning Pages. Whether you’ve done this before or not, here’s your chance to set your timer for 2 minutes and write on each of these questions:

What were your major achievements this quarter?
What do you want to celebrate?
As you consider the goals (and resolutions) you made at the start of the quarter, how are you doing with these on a scale of 1-10?
Which goals are becoming new habits or something you can check off?
Which goals need to be adjusted or let go of?
As a leader/coach/business owner, what have you noticed about my team this quarter?

Answer the following:
The thing that has helped me be most productive this quarter has been ______
The thing that has helped me be most successful this quarter has been ______
The thing that has helped me be happiest this quarter has been ________
The thing that has helped me be most healthy has been _______
What have I noticed about my work/productivity/results and/or relationships during the winter months (if you are in the northern hemisphere) or summer (if you are in the southern hemisphere)?

Take note of any key metrics which are important for you, and your work. [For corporate leaders this may be progress on key KPIs (Key Performance indicators). For small business owners this may be key metrics around revenue and social media.]

Looking ahead to the next quarter:
My priorities are:
1.
2.
3.

Our team/business priorities are:
1.
2.
3.

My top 3  goals are:
1.
2.
3.

This quarter, I want to......

I'll be really happy at the end of this quarter when....

Want a video to move you along? Check out this Quarterly Planning Video and follow!
Enjoy!

teams365 #3730: Developing Essential Coaching Skills for Building a Coaching Culture in Leadership

3/28/2024

Picture
In today's dynamic workplace, fostering a coaching culture is increasingly recognized as a powerful strategy for driving employee development, engagement, and organizational success. Central to this endeavor is equipping leaders with core coaching skills that empower them to support and develop their teams effectively. Here are some essential coaching skills leaders should cultivate when building a coaching culture:

1. **Active Listening:**
Active listening is the foundation of effective coaching. Leaders must learn to listen attentively, without interrupting or jumping to conclusions. Practice active listening by maintaining eye contact, nodding to show understanding, and paraphrasing to ensure comprehension. By truly understanding their team members' perspectives, leaders can provide more meaningful guidance and support.

2. **Powerful Questioning:**
Asking powerful questions is a hallmark of coaching. Leaders should learn to ask open-ended questions that prompt reflection, exploration, and self-discovery. These questions encourage deeper thinking and help individuals uncover insights and solutions on their own. Instead of providing all the answers, leaders empower their team members to think critically and find their own paths forward.

3. **Providing Constructive Feedback:**
Constructive feedback is essential for growth and development. Leaders should learn to deliver feedback in a way that is specific, timely, and actionable. Focus on behaviors rather than personalities, and frame feedback as an opportunity for learning and improvement. By providing constructive feedback, leaders help their team members identify areas for development and achieve their full potential.
Notice that this area is one that is a little different than the standard coaching focus, where an internal or external coach will provide observations, supporting the person being coached to identify what they see as important or not.

4. **Goal Setting and Action Planning:**
Setting clear goals and creating actionable plans are key components of coaching. Leaders should work collaboratively with their team members to establish SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals that align with organizational objectives. Break down goals into manageable tasks and create action plans with clear steps and timelines. By setting clear expectations and defining pathways to success, leaders empower their team members to take ownership of their development.

5. **Empathy and Emotional Intelligence:**
Empathy and emotional intelligence are essential qualities for effective coaching. Leaders should strive to understand their team members' emotions, perspectives, and experiences. Show empathy by acknowledging and validating their feelings, and create a supportive environment where individuals feel heard and understood. By demonstrating empathy, leaders build trust and rapport with their team members, fostering a culture of openness and collaboration.

6. **Celebrating Successes and Acknowledging Efforts:**
Recognizing and celebrating successes is a fundamental aspect of coaching. Leaders should acknowledge and celebrate their team members' achievements, both big and small. Take the time to praise individuals for their hard work, dedication, and contributions to the team's success. By celebrating successes, leaders reinforce positive behaviors and motivate their team members to continue striving for excellence.

In conclusion, developing core coaching skills is essential for building a coaching culture within leadership. By mastering active listening, powerful questioning, providing constructive feedback, setting goals and action plans, demonstrating empathy and emotional intelligence, and celebrating successes, leaders can create an environment where coaching flourishes. By empowering and supporting their teams through coaching, leaders lay the groundwork for continuous growth, development, and success.

teams365 #3729: Cultivating Excellence: Tips for Building a Coaching Culture

3/27/2024

Picture
In today's rapidly evolving workplace, organizations are increasingly recognizing the value of a coaching culture in driving employee development, engagement, and performance. A coaching culture fosters continuous learning, encourages feedback, and empowers individuals to reach their full potential. Here are some actionable tips for building a coaching culture within your organization:

1. **Lead by Example:**
Building a coaching culture starts at the top. Leaders and managers must lead by example by demonstrating coaching behaviors in their interactions with team members. This includes active listening, asking powerful questions, providing constructive feedback, and offering support and guidance. When leaders prioritize coaching as a fundamental aspect of their leadership approach, it sets the tone for the entire organization.

2. **Invest in Training and Development:**
Providing training and development opportunities for managers and employees is essential for building coaching capabilities. Offer workshops, seminars, or certification programs to equip managers with the necessary skills and tools to be effective coaches. Additionally, provide resources and support for employees to enhance their own coaching skills, fostering a culture of peer-to-peer coaching and support.

3. **Promote a Growth Mindset:**
Encourage a growth mindset throughout the organization, where individuals believe that their abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work. Emphasize the importance of learning from mistakes, seeking feedback, and embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. Cultivate an environment where taking risks and experimenting are encouraged, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.

4. **Establish Regular Coaching Conversations:**
Integrate coaching conversations into regular performance discussions and one-on-one meetings. Encourage managers to schedule dedicated time for coaching sessions with their team members to discuss goals, progress, challenges, and development opportunities. These conversations should be focused on listening, asking thought-provoking questions, providing feedback, and co-creating action plans for growth and development.

5. **Create a Feedback-Rich Environment:**
Foster a culture of open and honest feedback where individuals feel comfortable giving and receiving feedback regularly. Encourage managers to provide timely, specific, and constructive feedback to their team members, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement. Additionally, promote 360-degree feedback mechanisms that allow employees to receive feedback from peers, subordinates, and other stakeholders.

6. **Measure and Celebrate Progress:**
Establish metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the impact of coaching initiatives on employee engagement, performance, and retention. Regularly assess the effectiveness of coaching programs and interventions, soliciting feedback from participants and stakeholders. Celebrate successes and milestones, recognizing individuals and teams for their contributions to building a coaching culture.

In conclusion, building a coaching culture requires commitment, investment, and leadership support. By leading by example, investing in training and development, promoting a growth mindset, establishing regular coaching conversations, creating a feedback-rich environment, and measuring progress, organizations can create an environment where coaching is embedded into the fabric of everyday interactions. A coaching culture not only enhances employee performance but also fosters a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

teams365 #3728: Unleashing Team Potential: 5 Ways to Boost Strengths and Enhance Performance

3/26/2024

Picture
In today's competitive business landscape, teams are the backbone of success for any organization. To truly excel, teams must leverage their collective strengths and talents effectively. Here are five actionable strategies to boost team strengths and enhance overall performance:

1. **Encourage Open Communication and Collaboration:**
Effective communication lies at the heart of high-performing teams. Encourage an open dialogue where team members feel comfortable sharing ideas, feedback, and concerns. Foster a collaborative environment where diverse perspectives are valued and creativity flourishes. By leveraging the collective intelligence of the team, you can tackle challenges more effectively and drive innovation.

2. **Identify and Utilize Individual Strengths:**
Each team member brings unique skills and strengths to the table. Take the time to identify and leverage these strengths effectively. Conduct assessments or have discussions to understand each team member's strengths and how they can contribute to the team's goals. Assign tasks and responsibilities that align with individuals' strengths, allowing them to excel in their respective roles.

3. **Promote a Culture of Continuous Learning:**
Learning is a never-ending journey, and fostering a culture of continuous learning is essential for team growth and development. Provide opportunities for team members to expand their skill sets, whether through training programs, workshops, or mentorship opportunities. Encourage a growth mindset where team members are motivated to seek out new challenges and continuously improve.

4. **Set Clear Goals and Expectations:**
Clear goals and expectations provide a roadmap for success and keep team members aligned towards a common purpose. Ensure that goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). Clearly communicate these goals to the team and outline expectations for individual contributions. Regularly review progress towards these goals and make adjustments as needed to stay on track.

5. **Celebrate Achievements and Recognize Contributions:**
Recognizing and celebrating achievements is essential for morale and motivation. Take the time to acknowledge the accomplishments of individual team members and the team as a whole. Whether it's hitting milestones, overcoming challenges, or delivering exceptional results, celebrate these successes openly and enthusiastically. Genuine recognition reinforces positive behaviors and fosters a sense of pride and camaraderie within the team.

In conclusion, boosting team strengths is a collaborative effort that requires effective communication, utilization of individual talents, a commitment to continuous learning, clear goal setting, and recognition of achievements. By implementing these strategies, teams can unleash their full potential, drive performance, and achieve greater success together. As a leader, it's your role to empower and support your team on this journey towards excellence.

teams365 #3727: Unleashing Team Potential: Boosting Engagement through Strengths

3/25/2024

Picture
In today's fast-paced work environment, building engaged and high-performing teams is crucial for organizational success. A key strategy for achieving this is by leveraging the strengths of individual team members and harnessing their collective potential. As Marcus Buckingham aptly stated, "Leadership is not about being in charge. It's about taking care of those in your charge." Here are some effective tips for boosting engagement by harnessing strengths within teams:

1. **Identify and Nurture Individual Strengths:** Every team member possesses unique talents and capabilities. As a leader, take the time to understand each individual's strengths and provide opportunities for them to thrive. This might involve conducting strength assessments, holding one-on-one discussions, or observing performance. By recognizing and nurturing these strengths, you empower team members to excel in their respective roles.

2. **Encourage Collaboration and Synergy:** Collaboration lies at the heart of effective teamwork. Encourage open communication and collaboration among team members, allowing them to leverage each other's strengths to achieve common goals. Foster a culture where diverse perspectives are valued, and ideas are freely shared. By harnessing the collective intelligence of the team, you can drive innovation and creativity.

3. **Promote a Culture of Continuous Learning:** Learning and growth are essential components of engagement. Provide opportunities for team members to further develop their strengths through training, workshops, and mentorship programs. Encourage a growth mindset where individuals are motivated to continuously improve and expand their skill sets. By investing in their development, you demonstrate your commitment to their success.

4. **Set Clear Goals and Expectations:** Clarity breeds confidence and motivation. Clearly define goals, roles, and expectations for each team member, aligning them with the organization's objectives. Ensure that goals are challenging yet achievable, allowing team members to leverage their strengths to overcome obstacles and achieve success. Regularly revisit and communicate progress towards these goals, celebrating milestones along the way.

5. **Provide Feedback and Recognition:** Feedback is a powerful tool for growth and improvement. Offer constructive feedback to team members, highlighting their strengths and areas for development. Recognize and celebrate achievements, both big and small, publicly acknowledging the contributions of individuals to the team's success. Genuine recognition reinforces positive behaviors and fosters a sense of belonging and appreciation.

6. **Lead by Example:** As a leader, you set the tone for the team. Demonstrate a commitment to leveraging strengths by showcasing your own strengths and seeking opportunities to collaborate with others. Lead with empathy, integrity, and authenticity, creating a supportive environment where team members feel valued and empowered to bring their best selves to work.

In conclusion, leveraging strengths within teams is a powerful strategy for boosting engagement and driving performance. By identifying and nurturing individual strengths, fostering collaboration and synergy, promoting continuous learning, setting clear goals and expectations, providing feedback and recognition, and leading by example, you can unleash the full potential of your team. As a leader, your role is not only to guide the team but also to empower them to achieve greatness together.

teams365 #3725: Weekly Journaling Prompt – Strengths

3/23/2024

Picture
While we have spent a lot of this week looking at the Everything DiSC, I also wanted to take us back to the focus we had a few weeks ago in terms of working with Strengths.  This week’s Weekly Journaling Prompt explores strengths.
Title: Embracing Your Strengths: A Journey of Self-Discovery

Quote: "Success is achieved by developing our strengths, not by eliminating our weaknesses." - Marilyn vos Savant

This week, embark on a journey of self-discovery as you explore and leverage your unique strengths. Embracing your strengths is not only empowering but also essential for achieving personal and professional success. Let this journaling prompt guide you on a path of self-awareness and growth.

1. Reflect on your recent accomplishments or moments of success. What strengths did you leverage to achieve these outcomes? How did these strengths contribute to your achievements?

2. Consider feedback you've received from others about your strengths. What recurring themes or qualities do people acknowledge in you? How do these strengths resonate with your own self-perception?

3. Identify your top three strengths or attributes that you value most about yourself. How do these strengths manifest in different areas of your life, such as work, relationships, and personal pursuits?

4. Explore how you can further develop and nurture your strengths. What actions or practices can you incorporate into your daily routine to enhance these qualities?

5. Reflect on moments when you felt energized, engaged, and in flow. What strengths were you utilizing during these experiences? How can you recreate these conditions to tap into your strengths more consistently?

6. Consider how you can leverage your strengths to overcome challenges or obstacles. How might your strengths provide you with unique perspectives or solutions to navigate difficult situations?

7. Explore the concept of "strengths partnerships" – collaborating with others who possess complementary strengths. How can you identify individuals whose strengths complement your own, and how might you leverage these partnerships for mutual benefit?

8. Reflect on any areas of self-doubt or insecurity you may have. How can you reframe these perceived weaknesses as opportunities for growth and development?

9. Consider the impact of aligning your strengths with your goals and aspirations. How can you set intentions and take action to leverage your strengths in pursuit of your dreams?

10. Take a moment to celebrate and appreciate your strengths. How can you cultivate a sense of gratitude for the unique qualities that make you who you are?

As you engage with these journaling prompts, remember that embracing your strengths is not about striving for perfection but rather about embracing your authenticity and unleashing your full potential. Embrace your strengths with confidence and intention, knowing that they are the building blocks for a fulfilling and purposeful life.

teams365 #3724: Friday Flashback

3/22/2024

Continuing with our weekly theme of the DiSC, here’s a great post from last year which also linked the DiSC to coaching - TEAMS 365 #3532: ELEVATING COACHING WITH DISC: HARNESSING BEHAVIORAL INSIGHTS FOR PERSONAL GROWTH #letstalkvirtual #standoutvirtually #elevatingcoaching - POTENTIALS REALIZED
Coaching is a powerful tool that supports individuals in achieving their goals and realizing their full potential. When combined with the DiSC assessment, coaching becomes even more impactful, offering a tailored approach that aligns with an individual's unique behavioral style. Here's how coaching can leverage the DiSC assessment to foster personal growth and development:

  1. Personalized Approach: DiSC provides a detailed understanding of an individual's behavioral tendencies, communication preferences, and strengths. Coaches armed with this knowledge can tailor their approach to resonate with the client's style, ensuring that coaching sessions are effective and engaging.
  2. Self-awareness and Reflection: DiSC encourages self-awareness by shedding light on how individuals interact with others and approach tasks. Coaches can guide clients in reflecting on their behavioral patterns and exploring how these patterns impact their goals, fostering greater self-awareness and insight.
  3. Effective Communication Skills: Coaching often involves enhancing communication skills. DiSC insights can help individuals understand their communication style, enabling them to adapt and communicate more effectively with others. Coaches can provide guidance on leveraging this understanding to build stronger relationships and connections.
  4. Conflict Resolution and Collaboration: DiSC equips individuals with strategies for conflict resolution based on their style. Coaches can help clients navigate conflicts by applying these strategies, fostering better collaboration and more constructive resolutions.
  5. Goal Setting and Strategy Development: DiSC helps individuals recognize their strengths and challenges. Coaches can leverage this knowledge to assist clients in setting realistic goals, devising strategies that align with their behavioral preferences, and overcoming obstacles with tailored approaches.
  6. Leadership Development: For those in leadership roles, coaching informed by DiSC insights can facilitate leadership growth. Coaches can guide leaders in adapting their leadership style to better suit the needs of their team members, optimizing communication, motivation, and team dynamics.

In conclusion, pairing coaching with the DiSC assessment enhances the coaching experience by providing a deeper understanding of an individual's behavioral style. This synergy enables coaches to personalize their approach, guide self-awareness, enhance communication skills, and navigate challenges using tailored strategies. By leveraging DiSC insights, coaching becomes a dynamic journey of self-discovery, growth, and transformation, ultimately helping individuals achieve their aspirations and flourish in their personal and professional lives.

Let’s set up a call to discuss how your team could benefit from the DiSC – book a 15 minute call with me at https://calendly.com/jennbritton.
