Chapter 4’s reconnecting tip gets you to think about how you want to reconnect people. What is important for you as a team? An individual? An organization?
When are you going to build teams? When team are distributed across distance and time, being purposeful about building in time to reconnect is important. Unless time is scheduled, it’s unlikely to happen.
On an ongoing basis, strategically build in time to allow teams to get to know each other and focus on results. This might include facilitating an icebreaker at each meeting, such as:
What’s outside your window?
What’s on your desk?
What pathways are you working on?
What doorway do you want to go into?
Each one of these activities provides us with a better understanding of what the context is for our colleagues and team members.
