Today's Sunday audio explores six characteristics of highly effective team leaders,  namely:

Self-Awareness - our abiltiy to know our strengths, weaknesses as well as triggers. Self-awareness is a core part of Emotional Intelligence, and area which is new for some team leaders who previously have been technical experts.

Our ability to connect with all those on the team, in a way that works for their style and personabilty

Fairness -and perceived fairness

Listening - our ability to really listen in when team members are speaking to us.This is not only about liste3ning to what they are saying and what they are not saying, but to be 100% present and focused on what they are saying.  Phones and emails away!

Clarity - Being clear with expectations and communication.

and finally flexibility which actually runs across all of these. The exciting part of being a team leader, and the challenge for some, is supporting the diversity that exists within your team. This requires that we are flexible and able to lead in different ways for different people.
