Throughout any given week it is likely that we are engaging in a variety of conversations – feedback conversations, planning sessions, meetings, presentations, coaching conversations, and sometimes difficult conversations.
Chapter 6 of the book explores at a high level some of the core components for great conversations, with future chapters dedicated to topics like Difficult Conversations, Feedback and Performance Management Conversations and others.
The Reconnecting Tip for Chapter 6 was Activating Better Conversations
Here’s what I write,
“Great conversations are at the heart of reconnecting the workspace. A key part of this is “bringing all voices into the room” or making sure that we have used a variety of approaches to activate the different learning styles and ways people engage with the world.
The virtual space is not unidimensional. The hybrid world merges the virtual space and the 3D world of in-person events. With this in mind, to reconnect the workspace, we want to use a variety of approaches for conversations large and small.
Consider these approaches:
• Use whiteboard to get people to work on the screen real time and input
• Use images to speak to those who are more visual learners
• Use pauses and reflection time before people speak for those who need more time to process
• Activate your body through movement
• Incorporate sound to shift emotion
What can you do to activate great conversations?”
