The sprints are a great example of focused bursts of energy. In the two rounds of leading this – so almost over a 40 day period at this stage – here are three of the consistent messages and major lessons learned from the process:
- Doing tasks in short consistent windows of time helps with time estimation. Many noted that they often under-estimated just how long tasks would take. By participating in 21 minutes of focused co-working, it helped to note just how much time tasks took
- Keeping an eye to time, being focused on the task in that window often helped get it done with fewer distractions, OR avoiding the perfectionist trap that it wasn’t good enough (when it WAS Good Enough)
- A new routine was established with the marker of the 21 for 21 being held most days at 12 noon ET. It was a time to bring tasks which required really focused attention, where other times of the day might not provide.
If you have joined me for the 21 for 21 so far this year, what have you learned from undertaking these focused bursts of activity? Please comment below, or share on your profile and comment.
