As we step into the next few days, I hope that you will have a chance to pause and take a few minutes to wrap up the year with your team. What have you been grateful for? What are the habits you have developed? What are the achievements you have had? What has been your key learning this year?

Enjoy the conversation and downtime as we move into the last week of the year!

Best,

TEAMS365 #2525 – Weekly Journaling Prompt 131

With the Thanksgiving celebrations just completed (or maybe even moving into the weekend) it’s a great reminder to take time to say thanks and celebrate all those things you have accomplished and have occurred. While 2020 is likely to have had significant impact on all of us, from relationships, to health issues, business to lifestyle impact, what do you want to celebrate?

As we start to move towards the end of the year, spend a bit of time thinking about, and taking stock of what you want to celebrate – your accomplishments and your achievements.

Enjoy the reflection!

TEAMS365 #2399 – Weekly Journaling Prompt 110

This week’s Weekly Journaling Prompt gets you to think about, and write about, “I want to acknowledge”. What are the things you want to acknowledge?

Who do you want to acknowledge?

Here are two definitions from Oxford Dictionary around acknowledge:
  1. Accept or admit the existence or truth of.
  2. (of a body of opinion) recognize the fact or importance or quality of.

What’s important to acknowledge in your weekly journaling?

Enjoy the reflections!

TEAM365 #2380 – Effective Virtual Conversations 157: Appreciations

7/6/2020

Picture
With the shift to virtual, it can be very easy to shift into all results and business focus. At the same time, it is important to spend time focusing on the relationship element of groups and teams. This week’s post gets you to think about “appreciations” in your team. This is an activity I do regularly in team development programs I facilitate for remote teams.

Length: 5- 20 minutes

Number: 3 to 20 or more

What you need – Breakout rooms

Instructions: Put group or team members into rooms of 2-3 people. Have them share with the other person the following:
  1. I see one of your strengths as….
  2. I appreciate when you…
  3. I’d love to see more….

This activity can be a great opportunity to witness what people bring to their work, acknowledging people for their strengths. At the same time, it can be an opportunity to provide nudge in terms of areas to magnify or even minimize.
After doing the breakout rounds it can be useful to have people return to the main room and share the one thing that they are going to focus on.

When do you have an opportunity to focus on acknowledgements?

Best wishes,
Jennifer

TEAMS365 #2371 – Weekly Journaling Prompt 106

6/27/2020

Picture
Welcome back to the 106th Weekly Journaling Prompt. This week’s prompt is “I appreciate”. What do you appreciate and are grateful for? As I have written in the past, gratitude plays an important role I health and well being.

As I shared in Teams365 #331:

Flowing from gratitude are a number of health and psychological benefits which include higher levels of optimism, increased positivity, more pro-social relationships, happier relationships, and also lower levels of toxic thoughts. As you will read, one practice which has been shown to increase gratitude and the benefits is keeping a gratitude journal, which is as simple as writing down on a weekly basis five things you are grateful for that week.

You can read more about what science has found about the importance of gratitude and how to incorporate more of this at this link from the Center for Greater Good from the University of Berkeley.

What are the things you are grateful for? What would it be like to keep a list of what you are grateful for on a regular basis, even if it’s as simple as listing out the top 3 things you are grateful for?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

The era of social distancing and stay at home has impacted the way we interact with each other. To some, it’s created a strong sense of isolation. For others, it’s become an opportunity to reach out and reconnect with not only loved ones but friends we may have lost touch with.

This week’s Weekly Journaling Prompt gets you thinking about your most important relationships. Have you taken time to let them know how much you appreciate them? Why you appreciate them?

Have you also thought about how else you want to foster new connections?

Enjoy your journaling!

TEAMS365 #2259 – Weekly Journaling Prompt 89 – LOVE

Picture
“Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is a quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through the good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.” -Ann Landers

Welcome back to another Saturday weekly journaling prompt. This week’s prompt is simply the word LOVE.

Like past weeks, I hope that this week’s prompt provides you with the space to explore ideas such as:
  • WHAT do you LOVE right now?
  • What are your passions?
  • If you were to create a top 10 list of the thins you LOVE this year, what would it include?
  • WHO do you LOVE?
  • How do you demonstrate LOVE?
  • What do you LOVE about your business and what you do every day?
  • If you run a business or lead a team, what do you LOVE?

I hope that you enjoy your reflections!

TEAMS365 #2191 – Thank You: Celebrating the end of year 6 at the Teams365 blog!

12/30/2019

Picture
As we go to wrap up the year, I wanted to take this opportunity to stay thanks for reading. When I began this experiment in hosting a daily blog ack on January 1st, 2014 I thought that it would run for perhaps one or two years. Here we are, six years later.

There have been several themes that have remained the same throughout my six years of writing here – the focus on teams, leadership and also the remote space. Those working in the remote space have mushroomed in recent years, and I hope that those of you who work remote continue to find this a useful resource.

The Teams365 series of programming has expanded widely in the last six years as well – from what used to be in-person training deliveries, today, most of the Teams365 work is delivered virtually to groups ad teams across industries. There are also on-demand programs (including a focus on feedback, and teamwork essentials) which you can take at your own pace.

The Teams365 brand has been joined by the Remote Pathways Podcast a short while ago. Highlighting the adventures of the Digital Dozen I’ll be exploring twelve different pathways to remote work today. I’m super excited to be co-hosting it with colleague Michelle Mullins, who also provides coaching and training support for remote professionals.

One of the Remote Pathways offerings you may want to explore in the new year includes our Team Days, geared for remote teams. Held virtually, these are a half-day to one-day programs delivered on Zoom for teams. Most teams call in from their usual location – and are amazed at how connected they become over the course of the day, and how clear they get in terms of the results they are all working towards. I hope that in 2020 we can provide your organization with Team Day support for your remote teams. Please contact me to set up a time to connect.

This year brought another 365 days of posts. Here’s where we went this year in year 6 of the blog:
  • January - Productivity
  • February - Collaboration and Relationships
  • March - Virtual Team Culture
  • April - Teamwork and Team Essentials
  • May - Teamwork in Uncertainty
  • June - Team Tune Up, Systems Check, Feedback and Performance, Navigating Disruption
  • July - Digital Detox, Work-Life, Focus, Simplification, Habits and Creativity
  • August - Teamwork foundations, Remote Work
  • September - Remote Work Myths and Working Tips
  • October - Remote Team Success, and Team Tips
  • November - Focus, Planning, The Last Mile
  • December - Working Across Uncertainty

Enjoy the conversation!
