From the realm of team effectiveness, we know that the greatest teams are both productive and positive. They get things done and also have great relationships. On the relationship front, or what is often known as positivity, teams excel when they know each other (who people are, what they value, whats important), when they trust each other and when they are also able to work across the differences that will exist in the team. In order to be productive teams need clarity around expectations and goals, a shared vision, resources to support them.
What are you doing in your team right now to boost productivity and positivity?
At the same time, for virtual team leaders, prioritization is key. Given the slew of possible competing demands, it is important to keep an eye on evolving priorities and also create some boundaries for the sake of sanity. Given the myriad of locations, support needs and players, it is important to be clear on how much time you have to dedicate to different projects, as well as when you are on and off. This is particularly an issue for global team leaders with team members spread across multiple, and varied, time zones.
What are your current priorities?
What boundaries have you created so you can remain at your peak?
