As virtual and remote team leaders we may need to be knowledgeable about a wide variety of different topics, sometimes even more than an in person team leaders may need to know. Foundationally, team leader can benefit from enhanced skills in communication, relationship building, influence, project management, technical skills. In virtual and remote setting the skills of influence may play an even more key role as does the ability to build relationships more quickly, and leverage influence as we are not physically present most of the time.
Having a keen eye and developing stronger observational skills can also be a valuable areas to hone. Many times our visits to staff in person are limited, and it is often the small nuances can help us pick upon things that require attention or can be magnified or improved.
Questions to consider:
How strong are your skills in building virtual relationships, influence and observation?
What do you want to become more aware of?
Have a great weekend,
Jennifer
