- Copyright – make sure you attribute the photos you use to the original author, and that you do have permission to utilize them in your presentation. Purchasing photos from sites such as istockhoto helps you be confident in the allowable usage rights. If Creative Commons licenses are used, not what usage rights you are given.
- How does the photo connect, and support, your message? Make sure there is a connection between the message you want to get across and the photo. Use the photo as a highlight. Make sure videos you use also reinforce the points you want to get across.
- Photos can boost learning rates by up to 400 % (View what 3 M has to say here). What are the items you want people to remember? Shift's e-learning blog includes a number of other interesting fact about visuals in learning. Read it here.
- Don’t forget the core messages of the presentation. In most business presentations we want data and substance along with photos. Make sure you are also providing the data and content, in addition to the photos.
What other tips would you recommend around visuals in presentations.
With best wishes,
Jennifer
