Whether you are involved in formal mentoring initiatives where you are paired with a more seasoned mentor in another part of your organization or industry for a 6-9 month period, or you are being informally mentored by others, we can find a range of opportunities for mentoring moments to occur.
In a series of end of program mentoring reflections here are some examples of how people are finding mentoring moments:
- During walks
- Over skype and phone given their locations
- Over lunch
- Through job shadowing
- By attending professional development and/or conference sessions together
- Attending industry sponsored events together (lunches, breakfasts and even lunch and learns)
Mentors provide key insights as to the inner workings of industries and organizations, and through their stories can provide invaluable insights as to what has worked, and what hasn't throughout their career.
