In the spring of 2014 I launched a photo deck for facilitators and leaders called the Conversation Sparker(TM) Cards. Over the last eighteen months I have been hearing wonderful stories from coaches and leaders alike about how the cards have been used by teams to create their vision, by team leaders to prompt conversation in their team meetings and by facilitators as a great way to close off a meeting.
Today I wanted to share with you one of the Cards from the deck which asks the Question WHAT ELSE? This is a key question we can ask to help our teams and/or learners unlayer an issue and get to root cause.
As you think about your most important goal you have identified for the month of August, what will help you be successful? What else? Ask yourself this question at least 8-10 times to generate some options.
On the flip side, think about your most pressing challenge right now. What is one thing you can do to solve it, or mitigate it. Write it down and then consider what else? Asking yourself a series of What Else will help you generate more options and/or get more to root cause.
Have fun using the What Else question with our team and/or learners this month.
