We are at X today with X representing the unknown, and I have also taken it as a "truncated" ex. With this in mind we can also say it represents x-cellence, x-treme, x-cellerate, x-ceptional, and x ray. Let's look at our 6 questions for today.
X - X can represent the unknown, which is increasingly part of what many leaders face every day. What are the unknowns you are moving through right now? What has helped you and the team be successful in recently navigating the unknown. How might you apply this in the future to other situations that are unknown?
X-cellence - what does excellence look like for your team? For your performance? What will it take to reach that?
X-cellerate - If you were to accelerate one thing, what would it be? What impact could it have. For example, many team leaders I have been speaking to have indicated that they want to accelerate the number of 1-1s they are doing with staff, to make the feedback process more regular, allowing for smaller and quicker performance tweaks. Rather than holding one 1-1 a month, several leaders I have been in communication with have been moving these to a weekly format.
X-treme - What does extreme look like for you and the team? how do you define it? Is it a good or bad thing? Do you want to cultivate more, or less?
X-ray - If you were to slip on a pair of x-ray goggles and look at the team, what would you notice about the state of the skeleton and frame you have created? Any cracks? Anything else that needs attention?
and finally X-ceptional. What has stood out and been exceptional within the team so far this year. How can you recognize and celebrate it? What would it take to cultivate more of this?
Have a great start to your week,
Jennifer
