Solid goals for the foundation for peak performance, clarity and often satisfaction on the part of team members today. If we do not know where we are going it causes confusion, poor results, and even conflict. Over the last 15 months I have spent time writing about the SMART goal framework and have encouraged team leaders to revisit these on a regular basis with their team during their one-on-ones. Questions to consider: What are your key goals this week? Your team members?

Grit, or our ability to dig deep, is a definer for leaders, especially in the troughs of experience. Not everything goes well in leadership, and it is often our grit and perseverance which defines us in the bigger term. Question to consider: What's at your core?
Great leaders can be a gracious host, as well as a firm challenger. What value has being gracious served in your role recently?
Global - The global nature of business continues to expand daily. As someone who led globally for more than a decade I would assert that some additional skills are needed for success. What will help you flourish in the global environment?
Gap analysis - Going hand in hand with goal setting is gap analysis, or our ability to identify where we are, and where we want to go. what what's needed to go from a to b. Questions to consider are this - Where are you now? Where do you want to be? What's going to get you there?
