Today's reminder is one that has been pointed to throughout the year - the importance of daily planning. The ten minutes you take at the end of the day, or start of the new day, can make a significant difference in allowing you to get out of the reactive leadership style into one where you can see the horizon and what is coming before then.
Consider what will help you build in the habit of daily planning for the new year - is it an alarm reminder? A new planner calendar/notebook, color coding for your computer file categories. Key is getting it done in a way that supports you and then using it throughout the day.
Resources I often recommend when I am speaking on time management issues and ones i have have pointed to this year around planning include:
Steven Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
Allyson Lewis - The Seven Minute Solution
Bryan Tracy - Eat that Frog
David Allen - Get Things Done
What other resources do you find useful with your work?
For those that are looking for more structure and activities to move through developing your own vision and plan for 2015, I would like to invite you to check out my new on-demand video based virtual retreat program which just went live last night. It's called the Inner Biz Leader(TM) Virtual Business Planning Retreat. Over the course of six to seven hours, which can be broken down into much smaller chunks, you will move through lectures, and activities, to develop your vision for the next year along with plan, plus you will also explore some of your leadership foundations including your values, strengths and opportunities. After running virtual retreats for leaders and business owners for more the last seven years by phone, it's really exciting to be able to offer this new program to you on demand so that you can complete it in more bite sized chunks. Cost is $197 and you can complete the process as frequently as you would like, even every quarter! Click here for more information and to start!
Have a great week,
