In Primal Leadership, Goleman takes us through the terrain of Emotional intelligence and what skills leaders need. As we move up the leadership ladder our skills in the area of Emotional Intelligence - our ability to know and manage ourselves and our relationships are critical for business success.
I particularly like the list of twenty one leadership competencies Goleman has included in the back of the book. These can form a terrific self-assessment. AS you read through the competencies of emotional intelligence and the hallmarks as leadership, where are you on a scale of 1-10 (one being low, ten being high) with each of these areas? What do you notice about your strengths? Which ones need attention? If you were to choose one to put attention around, that would have the biggest impact in your work, what one would it be?
Have a great weekend,
