The workbook/planners, Coaching Business Builder, and PlanDoTrack are built up on the notion of “Daily Steps + Consistent Action = Momentum”. It’s the small steps that add up, particularly in the remote and virtual space.
In order to Sand Out Virtually consistent action done frequently may be needed. This might be a different volume of work than expected. One of the more common pitfalls with time and project management today is that tasks and projects can seem so large that we never get started. One useful strategy is to chunk things down into more manageable pieces.
Consider the projects you have on the go. What are the discrete tasks and activities that can flow out of this? You might choose to capture these subsets in a project management software like Trello or Asana. As you look at the discrete steps, add some more detail – What will success look like? Who is responsible? What resources are needed? How much time will it take?
Breaking projects down into more discrete packets can help us with the regular steps that are required.
In exploring other scheduling issues, another common pitfall is that tasks are scattered across a day, week, or month. When we have tasks that require “heavy lifting” and more brain-power, it may require some time to get into the flow of the activity (i.e. 5-10 minutes). This is often referred to as “task switching”. It has been shown that there is a “cognitive load” or energy required, when you switch tasks With this in mind, it can be useful to group things together that are a common type of activity.
Different activities may activate and utilize different parts of the brain. For example, if you need to update invoices, what accounting tasks are the things that can be grouped together? What are the tasks that relate to other activities such as conversations, or planning, or writing?
Pulling “like activities” together can help with minimizing cognitive load or the energy associated with switching between tasks. Enjoy your exploration!

________ + ________ = __________
Conversation Sparkers
What are the tasks and activities which naturally go together?
What could chunk certain tasks and activities, free you up for?
Enjoy the reflection!
