Research and practice show that the most successful team leaders are those who have been in the role before. Seeing masterful virtual team leadership modeled effectively is important. Some sage words of advice from seasoned leaders include:

• Try it out
• Relationships are key
• Always have a back-up
• Don’t lose sight of what’s important
• Take time to cultivate relationships
• Consider what will work for your team
• Create boundaries
