As you will note below, a vast majority of our message actuallly comes from our body language, followed by the way we speak (our pace, pitch, speed) and then the actual words we use.
What does your body language say? In your next team meeting, have dialogue around what everyone's body language is saying. It is aligned with the message they want to send?
These figures change when we speak by phone. On the phone we lose our visual cues, so our tone, pace and pitch play a more significant role. In email communication all there are as words, with tone being lost. This can at times lead to misunderstanding when something is intended to be in humor, but is really being read through the lens of the reader.
