There are several activities which you may want to try in creating connection amongst group members. I am personally a big proponent of using photos to create connection, and have seen the results in bringing photos into dozens of team and organizational meetings.
Photos can create a way to cut across differences and create a common foundation. Using a series of photos (such as calendar shots, post cards, or photo card decks) lay a set out on a table. It’s generally a good rule of thumb to have at least double the number of photos for the number of people on the team.
Ask each team member to select the photo which represents that they uniquely bring to the team. Given them a few minutes to share these with each other, and encourage team members to add on how they see this as a great choice.
Take a look at the collage included on today’s photo, from the Conversation Sparker Cards™ I launched a few months ago. Share these with your team and ask them the question "Select the phone which represents what you uniquely bring to the team". Give them a minute or two to select their choice and write down what they notice about the photo.
Which group members selected similar photos? What do you notice about connection amongst group members after this activity?
