Here are five reasons why coaching is more important today than even a few years ago:
Part of the return to office allows for all individuals to connect and collaborate in different ways than we can in the virtual space. As a virtual advocate for many decades (and author in this space as well!) virtual collaboration can never replace what can occur in the in-person realm. Enhancing virtual collaboration skills is still important when teams can organizations can’t get together. Coaching skills are critical in the collaborative conversation space, with everyone needing enhanced listening and questioning skills.
Collaboration requires activating different perspectives. Coaching is a valuable modality for staring to explore the varying perspectives and solutions around issues.
Coaching allows for us to explore below the waterline into the arenas which are not visible but play out in the workspace. This includes what I first shared in PlanDoTrack and Coaching Business Builder as the ICEBERG Model

When we dive into the deeper waters of the iceberg we can explore topics like mindsets, beliefs, and values in a safe space.
In recent years many organizations have experienced several paradigm shifts, including significant changes in leadership and how all employees need to contribute and play a key role in outstanding organizations. Quiet Quitting has become the norm in many organizations which aren’t meeting the diverse needs of employees. Coaching is an important modality, especially when group and peer coaching is activated, to involve everyone in the conversations shaping where an organization is going, and what’s needed now to help everyone excel and activate their best self.
Finally, complexity is the norm rather than the outlier today. In times of complexity business is not as usual. Coaching is a valuable vehicle to activate all wisdom from across a team, group or organization.
