As we conclude the Teams365 blog after a decade of daily posts, it feels fitting to end with a moment of reflection and intention-setting. The close of one year and the dawn of another is a natural time to pause, assess, and envision what’s ahead. To guide your reflection on 2024 and your planning for 2025, here are 24 questions to inspire gratitude, growth, and purposeful action.

Reflecting on 2024
  1. What are three things I’m most proud of accomplishing this year?
  2. What challenges did I face, and how did I grow as a result?
  3. How did I demonstrate resilience or adaptability in unexpected situations?
  4. What relationships brought me joy, support, or growth this year?
  5. What habits or practices had the biggest positive impact on my life in 2024?

As I bring the Teams365 blog to a close after 10 years of daily posts, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to you, my readers. Since launching this blog as an experiment in January 2014, it has evolved into so much more than I could have ever imagined. At its peak, more than 10,000 of you visited daily, creating a vibrant community of leaders, coaches, and team members seeking to grow, learn, and inspire.

This journey has been a testament to the power of consistency, curiosity, and connection. What began as a simple idea—to share insights, tips, and tools for teams and leaders—became a decade-long exploration of leadership, collaboration, resilience, and growth. Along the way, I’ve learned just as much from you as I hope you’ve learned from this space.

A Decade of Reflection and Growth
Over the past 11 years, we’ve explored countless topics, from fostering trust and psychological safety to navigating change, building resilience, and embracing the future of hybrid work. Together, we’ve delved into what makes teams thrive and what leaders can do to support their people and goals.

Through writing daily, I’ve learned the value of reflection, the strength of community, and the beauty of sharing ideas. Your engagement—whether through comments, questions, or simply returning to read—has been the heartbeat of this blog.

The Journey Ahead
While this chapter of Teams365 is closing, the journey of leadership and team development continues. As the year draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what you’re most proud of—those moments, actions, and accomplishments that have brought meaning, growth, or joy to your life. Too often, we rush forward without pausing to celebrate our wins, big or small. This week’s journaling prompt invites you to take a moment to acknowledge and honor your successes.

Journaling Prompt: Exploring Pride and Accomplishment
Use the following questions to guide your journaling this week:
  1. What are three things I’m most proud of accomplishing this year?
  2. What personal qualities or strengths did I demonstrate in achieving these successes?
  3. What challenges did I overcome, and how did I grow as a result?
  4. What relationships or collaborations contributed to these achievements?
  5. How do these accomplishments align with my values and long-term goals?
  6. What moments of pride brought me unexpected joy or satisfaction?
  7. What small, daily actions or habits have I maintained that I’m proud of?
  8. How did I celebrate my accomplishments, and how might I celebrate them now?
  9. What am I proud of beyond traditional measures of success (e.g., kindness, resilience, creativity)?
  10. Looking ahead, how can I build on these successes in the coming year?

The Importance of Acknowledging Pride
Taking time to reflect on what you’re proud of is more than just a feel-good exercise. It helps you:
  • Build confidence by recognizing your abilities and growth.
  • Stay motivated as you see the impact of your efforts.
  • Strengthen gratitude for the journey and those who supported you.
  • Reinforce values by aligning your accomplishments with what matters most.

A Practice of Pride
As you reflect, don’t shy away from acknowledging smaller moments of pride—sometimes it’s the quiet, consistent efforts that matter most. Perhaps you showed up for a friend in need, learned a new skill, or stayed committed to your well-being amidst challenges.

To deepen the practice, consider writing a letter to yourself, detailing why you’re proud and what these moments say about your growth. Keep the letter somewhere safe and revisit it when you need encouragement.

Looking Forward
By celebrating what you’re proud of, you honor the progress you’ve made and the person you’re becoming. Let this reflection guide your next steps as you continue to grow and create a life aligned with your values and aspirations.

Teams365 #4001: Friday Flashback - TEAMS365 #2220 – Team Essential – Connection

​This week we round out our focus on core Team Essentials before turning our attention next month to collaboration, conversations and relationship building.
One of the core elements which team members may struggle with is feeling connected to others on the team. This gets even more augmented when working in the remote space, given that we don’t see each other. As I have shared in recent blog posts this month (ink), connection is key for getting results.

What are the ways we can boost a team’s sense of connection? First, consider what are the visual element which are bringing people together. As I wrote in yesterday’s Effective Virtual Conversations post, making things more visual and visible through the use of structures, images and icons can help create a sense of connection and identity.

Another key part of building connection is to ensure that people know who is on the team, and what roles they play. Do people understand how their work connects and impacts others on the team. This type of connection needs to be linked back to ensuring that there is a clear vision. This vision will help to anchor of what the team is working towards and what’s important to the team. Is your team connected to the same vision? Is everyone working to the same end point? Is it time to revisit this?

A third area is helping people connect with each other. Beyond our work, do people know each other and know a little bit more about who each person is as a human being. As we get to understand WHO is WHO on the team, we can develop a more solid working relationship, one that is not just transactional.  Providing time for each team member to share a little more about who they are, their strengths, what’s important to them, or even what’s beyond the screen can help to widen the lens and understanding of who is who on the team.

As the year comes to a close, it’s a natural time to pause and reflect on the connections that have shaped your journey. Relationships—whether personal, professional, or community-based—play a crucial role in our joy, resilience, and growth. In the spirit of the reflections often shared in the Teams365 blog, let’s take a closer look at the people who enriched your 2024 and how those connections have influenced your path.

The Importance of Relationships
Relationships form the foundation of life and work. Over the years, the Teams365 blog has frequently explored how trust, collaboration, and connection are essential not just for teams but also for individual well-being and success. As you reflect on 2024, consider the relationships that made the biggest impact on your year.
Think about:
  • Joy: Who brought lightness and positivity into your days? These are the people who remind us of the importance of laughter, shared experiences, and the simple pleasure of connection.

Reflect not only on what you gained but also on what you gave. Relationships thrive on reciprocity. Consider how you contributed to the joy, support, or growth of others.

Deepening Connections in 2025
Looking ahead, think about how you can nurture your most meaningful relationships and foster new ones. As highlighted in many Teams365 posts, strong relationships don’t happen by chance—they require intentional effort.
Here are some ways to deepen connections in the year ahead:
  • Express Gratitude: Regularly thank those who support and inspire you. A heartfelt note, a simple “thank you,” or an acknowledgment of their impact can strengthen bonds.
  • Prioritize Time: Make time for the people who matter most. Whether it’s scheduling a weekly call or setting aside time for in-person gatherings, consistency matters.
  • Collaborate and Support: Seek opportunities to work with or help others. Shared experiences build trust and camaraderie.

Planning and Reflection at the Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice, the shortest day and longest night of the year, is a time of transition and reflection. As the natural world enters a period of rest and renewal, it offers us an opportunity to pause, reflect on the year behind us, and plan for the year ahead. It’s a powerful moment to assess what has worked, what hasn’t, and where you want to focus your energy as the days grow longer.

In the spirit of reflection and intentionality, here are 10 journaling questions to guide your planning and reflection at this significant turning point:

1. Reflecting on the Year
  • What are three achievements from this year that I am most proud of?
  • What challenges did I face, and how did I grow from them?
2. Releasing What No Longer Serves You
  • What habits, relationships, or commitments no longer align with my values or goals?
  • What do I want to let go of before the new year begins?
3. Celebrating Growth
  • What have I learned about myself this year?
  • In what ways have I surprised myself with my resilience or creativity?
4. Looking Ahead
  • What are three things I want to focus on or achieve in the coming year?
  • What steps can I take now to set myself up for success in those areas?
5. Creating Balance
  • What do I want to invite more of into my life in the new year—joy, rest, connection, or something else?
  • How can I create more balance between my personal and professional life?

The Power of Solstice Reflection
The Winter Solstice invites us to embrace both the darkness and the light—the quiet moments of introspection and the anticipation of new beginnings. This duality mirrors the rhythm of our lives, reminding us that rest and renewal are essential for growth.

Reflection helps us acknowledge the lessons of the past year and carry them forward, while planning enables us to align our actions with our values and goals. By engaging in both, you create a roadmap for personal and professional growth that is intentional and meaningful.
