Teams365 #2934 - Virtual Co-Working Sprints 22 For 2022: Day 11 of 22 Days: The 4Rs: Repurpose, Reuse, Recycle, and Resyndicate

“Recycling turns things into other things. Which is like magic.”
– Anonymous

Content Creation can be an important part of getting your voice out in the virtual space. What are the topics you are passionate about? You don’t always have to start from scratch.
In magnifying our content, we can:
Repurpose
Reuse
Recycle
Re-syndicate

If you’ve gotten good results from something (for example, an email campaign, an article, or a social media post), what it the next iteration of that?

Let’s look at an example. Perhaps you led a speaking engagement on Emotional Intelligence. Chances are you did a lot of research into the topic and there are things that can be REPURPOSED. Are there some resources you can point your clients to as an extended resource to them? A new offshoot is a one-page resource list (TED Talks, books list) OR a checklist for them to complete.

What are the things that can be quickly repurposed into other formats?

At the same time, there may be many ways we can re-use, and leverage things already created in our business. From reusing processes so that we avoid pitfalls to reusing a proven checklist we have created and is road-tested in another program, reusing is key.

A third way is to recycle. In content creation, recycling is key. A very popular way to design programs is to build it through small packets or modules. You might have a one-hour module on EI in general, another on building EI in your team, and a separate one around “Self-management”. These could be recombined, or recycled, for future programs, creating a whole new resource!
Finally, think about how you can Re-syndicate. Re-syndicating means sharing content on other channels. Perhaps you already have shared something on Linked In. Are you sharing a link to that on Facebook? Instagram? Via a Pinterest pin.

Activity
Take a look at all the content you have created. Note it down. This could include blog posts, Instagram stories, Facebook Lives, etc.
As you look at what you have created already, consider:
What are the things your clients are looking for related to your already created content?
What are the vehicles they would like that in? (Think blog post, Instagram post, video, e-book, other)?
What would the 4Rs look like – repurpose, reuse, recycle and re-syndicate?

Conversation Sparkers
What can be repurposed into a new format? Reused? Recycled? Re-syndicated?

Enjoy the conversation!

"No person is an island.” – Old Adage (in more gender inclusive language!)

In early 2020, before the pandemic erupted, I shared the Remote Working Whitepaper. It introduced what I call, the Remote Enablers. Each one of these are levers we can use in order to leverage and amplify our work. The 7 Cs are something that I have shared over the course of the last year to coaches, business professionals, leaders and entrepreneurs. Inevitably, there is always one area which “Stands Out” as an important focus. Consider which of these is the area you want to put more attention around – Communication, Clarity, Connection, Culture, Consistency, Community or Collaboration.

Download a copy of the Remote Working Whitepaper for more information about these remote enablers at https://bit.ly/remoteworkwhitepaper.

The 7 Cs include. Consider what you can do to expand your work.
Communication
Clarity
Connection
Culture
Consistency
Community
Collaboration

For more detailed descriptions refer to Teams365 Blog post #2304 which can also be found at:

Activity
Keeping the Remote Enablers in mind, which are the ones you are great at?
Which are the ones you could improve upon?
What is important to note about these?

Conversation Sparkers
What is going to help to leverage and amplify your work?
What is going to help to accelerate things?

Enjoy your reflection!

As solopreneurs (one-person businesses), it can feel like we are always on our own. Relationships play a critical role in growing and maintaining a successful business or leadership role in the remote space. Whether we are building relationships with new clients or alumni, peers, joint venture partners, or coaches we can co-coach with, relationship building and connection is critical for success.

This tip gets you to think about building relationships – who you interface with regularly, who you’d like to connect with, and who are your connectors. [Connectors are individuals who are connected with those you want to reach. They can be a valuable link to your target market and/or other partners].

A first step in building relationships is to consider what you have to offer to others.

What are the skills, strengths, and talents you bring to the table? What do you have to offer others?

As a second step, consider who you want to connect with and who is in your network.

How can you support others in their work? How can you support others to achieve their mandate and vision?
An ongoing focus on building solid relationships with a variety of others is important across the entire lifecycle of a business.

Activity
Map out 20 people in your network. Write out their names. Consider how you interface. What do you offer them? What do they offer you?
What other people would be useful to have in your network? Consider financial, legal, and administrative support. Collaborators.
How often are you making a point of connecting with others in your networks? Growing your network? What could this look like this year?
How do you support their work? How can others support you?
What could collaboration look like?

Conversation Sparkers
What key relationships are you able to lean into with your work?
What do you have to offer others in terms of your skills, talents, and strengths? How can you help others magnify what they do, and who they serve?

Enjoy your weekend!

Teams365 #2931- Virtual Co-Working Sprints 22 For 2022: Day 8 of 22 Days: Daily Steps + Consistent Action= Momentum

1/8/2022

Picture
“In today’s world of many options with our time, one of the best ways to start to get traction around important tasks is to undertake daily steps of consistent action, to generate momentum.” – Jennifer Britton

The workbook/planners, Coaching Business Builder, and PlanDoTrack are built up on the notion of “Daily Steps + Consistent Action = Momentum”. It’s the small steps that add up, particularly in the remote and virtual space.

In order to Sand Out Virtually consistent action done frequently may be needed. This might be a different volume of work than expected. One of the more common pitfalls with time and project management today is that tasks and projects can seem so large that we never get started. One useful strategy is to chunk things down into more manageable pieces.

Consider the projects you have on the go. What are the discrete tasks and activities that can flow out of this? You might choose to capture these subsets in a project management software like Trello or Asana. As you look at the discrete steps, add some more detail – What will success look like? Who is responsible? What resources are needed? How much time will it take?

Breaking projects down into more discrete packets can help us with the regular steps that are required.

In exploring other scheduling issues, another common pitfall is that tasks are scattered across a day, week, or month. When we have tasks that require “heavy lifting” and more brain-power, it may require some time to get into the flow of the activity (i.e. 5-10 minutes). This is often referred to as “task switching”. It has been shown that there is a “cognitive load” or energy required, when you switch tasks With this in mind, it can be useful to group things together that are a common type of activity.

Different activities may activate and utilize different parts of the brain. For example, if you need to update invoices, what accounting tasks are the things that can be grouped together? What are the tasks that relate to other activities such as conversations, or planning, or writing?

Pulling “like activities” together can help with minimizing cognitive load or the energy associated with switching between tasks. Enjoy your exploration!

Activity
Think about the most important priorities for your business. What needs to get done?
What are the regular action steps which will help you get things done?
Create your own equation:
Consistent Action + Daily Steps = Momentum
________ + ________ = __________

Conversation Sparkers
What are the tasks and activities which naturally go together?
What could chunk certain tasks and activities, free you up for?

Enjoy the reflection!

Teams365 #2930 - Virtual Co-Working Sprints 22 For 2022: Day 7 of 22 Days: Be Consistent

“What is any ocean but a multitude of drops?” – David MitchellConsistency is an important part of being heard, and seen, in the virtual space. Whether you are a leader, a business owner, or someone with a message, it’s critical to be consistent.
Consistency takes several forms:
Consistency with your message
Consistency with your call to action
Consistency with your process
Consistency with your communication
Consistency with your reinforcement
Consistency is not only important for your message but also for effecting change, and movement.

Where is it important for you to be consistent?

Activity Consider the areas that you workaround:
What does consistency mean?
What’s important about this topic for you?
Which layers are important with consistency?
What is the change or impact you want to have in your work?
What can consistency look like in your work or conversations?
As you go about this activity, notice where consistency is showing up, or not in your world? What’s important to consider about consistency?

Conversation Sparkers
Where do you want to be more consistent?
What can you show up and do on a regular basis? On a daily basis?
What impact would consistency have in your work?

Enjoy your reflection!

Teams365 #2929 - Virtual Co-Working Sprints 22 For 2022: Day 6 of 22 Days: Values and Philosophies

1/6/2022

“If you can’t describe what you are doing as a process, you don’t know what
you’re doing.” - W. Edwards DemingWith the flow of work and life in the virtual space being fluid, what are the elements which are going to support you in anchoring your work, making decisions, and prioritizing items.
Likewise, philosophies can help to anchor our work and signal to others what makes us unique or different.

Today, take a moment to consider your values and the philosophies anchoring your work.

Personally, philosophies I work from as virtual facilitation, a digital creator, and remote leader are:
Keep it simple
Distill things down into their core essence
Embrace the chaos
We learn by doing
If you’ve read any of my books, you will know how these continue to shape my work and writing.  They infuse all elements from design, to approach, to marketing
What are the key values and philosophies anchoring your work?

Activity Today, consider what are the values and philosophies anchoring your work and approaches.
IN essence, these are the things that:
You NEED to incorporate something to meet your standards;
You KNOW are important in the work you do;
Are things you take a stand around.
If it is useful, take time to review or identify your values. Be sure to think about how your values translate into behaviors that can be seen in the virtual space.

Conversation Sparkers
What do clients say they really appreciate about your work?
What are the one things which need to always be part of your work (i.e. it might be quality, etc.)
What are the philosophies which shape your work?
If you were to hire someone tomorrow, how would you describe how you do?

Happy Thursday!

Teams365 #2928 - Virtual Co-Working Sprints 22 For 2022: Day 5 of 22 Days: Make It Visual

1/5/2022

Picture
“Visuals are processed 60,000 times faster than text by the human brain and 90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual.17 Humans evolved over millennia to respond to visual information long before they developed the ability to read text. Images act as shortcuts to the brain: we are visual creatures, and we are programmed to react to visuals more than to words.”
― Ekaterina Walter, The Power of Visual Storytelling: How to Use Visuals, Videos, and Social Media to Market Your Brand

Our minds process things faster via visuals than words. In fact, as I quote in Effective Virtual Conversations, 3M found that visuals were interpreted 60,000 times faster than words.

Here’s what Dr. Lynell Burmark, Ph.D. Associate at the Thornburg Center for Professional Development writes,
“Words are processed by our short-term memory where we can only retain about seven bits of information (plus or minus two). This is why, by the way, that we have seven-digit phone numbers. Images, on the other hand, go directly into long-term memory where they are indelibly etched.”

What can you do to incorporate more visuals into your work?

As Noah Parsons writes, a “3M-sponsored study found that presenters who use visual aids are 43 percent more effective in getting people to do what they want.”
(Reference: https://www.liveplan.com/blog/scientific-reasons-why-you-should-present-your-data-visually/)

Activity
What can you do to incorporate more visuals into your work? As it relates to productivity here are some additional suggestions for incorporating visuals:
Building up your amount of stock photos
Keeping a list of your top 3 priorities on a whiteboard (virtual) or post it
Create a vision board to represent your key goals. Putting emotion and intentionality around your goals helps to create a story and can move them from a check-box activity.
Color Coding Emails coming into your inbox according to priority OR topic
Creating a visual map of where you want to go.
Start your next meeting with a picture. Capturing people’s attention is absolutely critical.

Conversation Sparkers
Where can make things more visual in your conversations?
Visually, what will help to serve as a reminder in your work?
What are the metaphors that represent the more complex ideas in your business?
What icons capture your vision?

Enjoy!

Teams365 #2927 - Virtual Co-Working Sprints 22 For 2022: Day 4 of 22 Days: Start with the End in Mind

“Before you start some work, always ask yourself three questions - Why am I doing it, What the results might be, and Will I be successful. Only when you think deeply and find satisfactory answers to these questions, go ahead.” - Chanakya

New drivers to snow and sand receive the advice to “steer where you want the vehicle to go”. Just like these sage words, always “Start with the end in mind” as Stephen Covey advised.

As you go to design a virtual conversation, what is it that you hope to get out of the conversation?

What are the key results you want people to take away from your time together?

What pre-work will they need to engage with?

As you consider your work or business right now, where are you getting your results?

Activity
Consider all the things you want to get out of an upcoming call. Make a list.
Looking at the time you have available:
What are the key items you can address?
What pre-work - conversations, reflections – do people need to undertake before they join you?
What post-work may need to be done after the meeting?
Who needs to be at the table?
What supports are required?
It’s always easier to add more than to condense things in the remote space.
What’s going to help this meeting stand out?

Conversation Sparkers
What are the key outcomes you want for this conversation? What’s absolutely essential to include?
What pre-and post-work will round out the conversation?
Are there any supports needed – worksheets or other?

Enjoy your reflection!

Teams365 #2926 - Virtual Co-Working Sprints 22 For 2022: Day 3 of 22 Days- Who Do You Serve?

1/3/2022

Picture
One size does not fit all, especially in the remote and virtual space. What are the unique needs of the people you serve or are in dialogue with?

Consider the unique elements of what they really need in their virtual support – whether it‘s a live call, another email, a video they can watch at their own time, or something they can download.

Today, think about who you serve and what’s unique about their world. A great tool to tap into is the Empathy Map process which flows out of Design Thinking.

Consider the full 360-degree view of the world of your client.
  • What are they seeing? Doing? Hearing? Thinking?
  • What are the issues which are keeping them up at night?
  • What’s helping them spring out of bed in the morning?

Activity

Consider who your clients are. Who are they and what is important to them? What are the things which are prevalent in their world?

As you consider these elements, write them out. Then, contrast this with what you are great at, and what you are passionate about.

It's in that space, which I call the Sweet spot, that leverage in your work or business exists.

Conversation Sparkers
  • The most interesting thing I noticed about my client was.
  • In order to move my business forward, I want to focus on..
  • I can get into more conversations to validate these ideas with my clients by....
  • What is important to them right now

Enjoy your conversations,
 Jennifer
